OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requires for Hazard Communication (HazCom) training
When is HazCom training required?
At Initial AssessmentÂ
Every new employee must receive Hazard Communication training before working with or around hazardous chemicals.
Whenever AÂ New Chemical Hazard Is Introduced
If new chemicals are brought into the workplace (with hazards the employee hasn’t been trained on), employees must receive additional training
When Processes Change
If changes in processes introduce new chemical exposures, refresher training is required.
 How often should training be repeated?
OSHA does not set a fixed “annual” requirement for HazCom refresher training however, many companies provide annual refresher training as a best practices (especially in construction, industrial, and chemical-handling workplaces)
At initial assignment:
